INTRODUCTION TO VETERINARY ASSISTING - prerequisite for Veterinary Clinical Skills
  • This introductory course provides students with foundational knowledge and hands-on skills used in veterinary assisting within small animal practice (canine and feline patients).
  • Students will learn safe animal handling and restraint techniques, basic animal behavior, and patient care procedures. The course covers wellness exams and preventative care, common blood draw sites, and an introduction to technician appointments and veterinary hospital workflow. 
  • Students will be introduced to veterinary medical terminology, basic anatomy concepts, and the identification and proper use of common veterinary equipment and supplies. Emphasis is placed on sanitation, sterilization, and the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including hands-on wet lab experiences. 
  • Additional topics include roles within the veterinary team, workplace safety, zoonotic disease awareness, and professional communication skills. This course emphasizes animal welfare, safety, and career readiness while preparing students for entry-level positions in veterinary and animal care settings.
  • Course tuition is $700.00. Additional fees are detailed on our registration page.
  • All students must complete at least a minimum of 80% of all module hours to pass the course.
  • A certificate of completion and a list of competencies is awarded to the student on completion of the course.

VETERINARY CLINICAL SKILLS
  • Students will expand their understanding of veterinary medical terminology and anatomy while gaining hands-on experience in essential clinical procedures.
  • Instruction includes performing and interpreting vital signs, advanced animal handling and positioning, and radiographic positioning techniques.
  • Students will develop practical skills for common veterinary procedures, including surgical, dental, and anesthesia support.
  • Students will also learn to recognize emergency and urgent conditions, understand end-of-life care, and further develop professionalism and critical thinking skills in a clinical setting.

VETERINARY ASSISTING PATHWAY
  • A program that prepares students to provide patient management, care, and clinical procedures assistance, as well as owner communication.
  • Includes instruction in animal nursing care, animal health and nutrition, animal handling, clinical pathology, radiology, anesthesiology, dental prophylaxis, surgical assisting, clinical laboratory procedures, office administration skills, patient and owner management, and applicable standards and regulations.
  • Students take two courses over two semesters to complete the Veterinary Assisting Pathway.
  • Both Intro to Veterinary Assisting and Veterinary Clinical Skills courses make students eligible to pursue a Veterinary Technician program.
  • Program tuition is $1400.00 for both courses over two semesters. Tuition can be paid for each course at the beginning of each semester. Additional fees are detailed on the registration page.

INTRODUCTION TO HORSE CARE & EQUINE SCIENCE
  • This introductory course provides students with foundational knowledge of equine science and basic horse care.
  • Students will learn essential principles of behavior, handling, health care, and stable management.
  • This course prepares students for entry-level opportunities in equine and animal care environments, including roles such as ranch assistants, barn staff, and support roles within therapeutic and special needs equine programs.
