Certified Nurse Assistant

  • This course provides entry-level training that leads to nurse assistant certification.
  • Instruction is covered in 17 modules that include but are not limited to basic nursing skills, medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology, patient rights, emergency procedures, long-term care, rehabilitative nursing, ethics, health, and safety.
  • A certified nursing assistant, or CNA, helps patients or clients with healthcare needs under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • Upon successful completion, students are qualified to take the California State Board Certified Nurse Assistant written and clinical examinations.
  • A certificate of completion and a list of competencies is awarded upon successful completion of the requirements for this course.
  • Program tuition is $1595.00 Additional book and equipment fees are detailed in the catalog and registration page.
  • This course requires technology access. Students will need a computer/laptop with a webcam, wifi, and access to Windows, Mac, or Linux operating systems. Students will need to access a variety of web-based software applications at the instructor's discretion.
  • All students must demonstrate 80% competency or higher in all 17 modules in the program.

  • Theory instruction is online and clinical instruction is in-person at Redwood Terrace, a Skilled Nursing Facility in Escondido, CA.
  • 199 hours/10 weeks

 Certified Home Health Aide

  • This class is for certified nurse assistants, only, who want to get their Home Health Aide state certification in order to work with hospice and home health care providers.
  • Home health aides help people with disabilities, chronic illness, or cognitive impairment with their activities of daily living. They often help older adults who need assistance.
  • A certificate of completion and a list of competencies is awarded upon successful completion of the requirements for this course.
  • 48 hours / 8 days

Medical Assistant - Administrative

  • This class prepares the student to work in the front office of a doctor's office, clinic, or other administrative areas of healthcare facilities.
  • A medical assistant is an allied health professional that supports the work of physicians and other health professionals, usually in a clinical setting.
  • Course tuition is $995.00. Additional book and equipment fees are detailed in our catalog and registration page.
  • All students must complete at least a minimum of 80% of all module hours to pass the course.
  • A certificate of completion and a list of competencies is awarded upon successful completion of the requirements for this course.
  • Students are not required but encouraged to participate in a 120-hour administrative specialty externship.
  • 168 hours/14 weeks

Medical Assistant - Clinical

  • This course is only for MA students who have successfully completed Medical Assistant, Administrative.
  • MA-Clinical prepares the student to assist physicians in the back office, labs, and exam rooms.
  • Students learn about the anatomy and physiology of the human body, medical terminology, pharmacology, phlebotomy, basic surgical assisting, and patient care.
  • Course tuition is $1595.00. Additional book and equipment fees are detailed in our catalog and registration page.
  • All students must complete at least a minimum of 80% of all module hours to pass the course.
  • Upon completion of both the Medical Assistant - Administrative and Medical Assistant - Clinical courses, students are not required but encouraged to participate in a 180-hour combined administrative and clinical externship.
  • A certificate of completion and a list of competencies is awarded upon successful completion of the requirements for this course.
  • 264 hours/22 weeks

 Medical Assistant - Dual Administrative & Clinical Pathway

  • This cohort has students take both the Medical Assistant Administrative & Clinical courses to make them eligible to take the California Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam for both the administrative and clinical specialties at the same time.
  • All students must complete at least a minimum of 80% of all module hours to pass the program.
  • Program tuition is $2590.00 for both courses over two semesters. Tuition can be paid for each course at the beginning of each semester. Additional book and equipment fees are detailed in our catalog and registration page.
  • This cohort also makes students eligible to take one, combined administrative and clinical externship of 180 hours.

Pharmacy Technician

  • Prepare for a career as a technician in a retail pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, mail-order pharmacy, or other locations.
  • The pharmacy technician assists the pharmacist with mixing and packaging prescriptions, maintaining client records, and referring clients to the pharmacist for counseling assistance.
  • A pharmacy technician is a health care provider who performs pharmacy-related functions, generally working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • A certificate of completion and a list of competencies is awarded upon successful completion of the requirements for this course. Students can participate in an externship of 120 hours.
  • A High School Diploma or Equivalency is required to enroll in this program.
  • 189 hours/21 weeks

Medical Billing and Coding

  • From clinics to hospitals to physician's offices, medical billers and coders use medical codes to document patient diagnoses and treatments.
  • Duties include reading and analyzing patient records; determining the correct codes for patient records; using codes to bill insurance providers; interacting with physicians and assistants to ensure accuracy; keeping track of patient data over multiple visits; managing detailed, specifically coded information; maintaining patient confidentiality and information security.
  • Once the student has successfully completed this course, the student can participate in a 180hr externship at a local medical facility. (Placements are not available at this time but students are welcome to solicit their own externship placement. See our EAS Externship website for details)
  • A certificate of completion and a list of competencies is awarded upon successful completion of the requirements for this course.
  • 200 hours - 25 weeks.

CPR / Basic Life Support

  • This course provides healthcare professionals and novices, the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely, and effective manner. Intended for certified or non-certified, licensed or non-licensed healthcare professionals.
  • The class covers CPR and Basic Life Support for adults, children, and infants.
  • Two-year card and certification fees are included in the registration fee.
  • Must register in advance. Classes must meet in person.
  • 1 day - 5hrs

Phlebotomy

  • Launch your career as a Phlebotomy Technician, collecting blood samples from patients in a hospital, clinical laboratory, medical office, or clinic.
  • Through lectures and hands-on training, learn about the circulatory system, venipuncture technique and specimen collection, risk factors and complications, and quality assurance.
  • This course provides a complete learning experience, with 40 hours of classroom instruction and a 40-hour hands-on externship, which prepares you to take the National Certification exam to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician1 (CPT1).
  • A High School Diploma or Equivalency is required to enroll in this program.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA), or Medical Assistant

Integrated Education & Training (IET) refers to contextualized English as a Second Language (ESL) or Basic skills classes that prepare EL Learners to succeed in health & medical career technical classes. IET classes are specialized ESL classes to help prepare language learners for eligibility to enroll in CTE courses. ESL students in Intermediate High and Advanced levels are eligible.
